losing my memory

I don't know whether I'm so busy or just plain forgetfulness. Yesterday was my nephew Ron's birthday. I put the note on the fridge a week ago. Well I went off to work yesterday and realized I forgot to phone him. So I just remembered now a whole day later. Of course the card is going to be real late. Today after staff meeting my friend Mary and I went to McDonald's for lunch. Barb joined us. After eating I went to my car and I joked with Mary. I said hey lucky me I am parked next to a citizen's patrol car. My car is so safe. Well when I got there this older man came up top me as I was unlocking my car and told me to come check the back. I thought maybe somebody had dinged it. It turns out that my insurance had run out eleven days ago. Yeh can you believe, we've been driving all over tarnation for 11 days without insurance. I made sure I quickly got home on all the back roads and took the other car and immedietly went and got insurance. Now I keep wondering whether I've forgotten anything else. George has been very busy with the hedge. He went to the tree farm way out on the other side of Matsqui village and dug up 120 trees and put the burlap on them. Pretty good for a guy of 70 years. He was going to remove the hedge himself, but it is too thick. Today we hired a professional who is coming next Tuesday. Then he will plant the new trees himself. It looks really strange looking out the window and being able to look down the road.I feel a little sad because my friend Mary and her husband are probably going to move to Winnipeg as early as this spring. I will really miss her. On a positive note, the weather has been absolutely beautiful the last few days. I've been getting up early and taking the dog for an hour of walking. It is so refreshing. Today Barb's friend Brandy joined us for supper. We had bean soup and homemade buns for dessert . We had Angel Food cake with hot blueberry sauce. Well I've had my bubble bath and it's time to wind down to prepare for my night shift. I hope you all have a good week. God bless.

I'm back

Well I am back after a short absence. Basically I've been busy going to work. The other week I actually took time out to spend time with Marie and her family. She recently lost her husband to cancer. We all trekked to the school where we built 3 rather large snowmen. Today Marie informed us that she was Grandma again for the second time. Her son and daughter-in-law had a baby girl today weighing over ten pounds!. On Saturday was my sister-in-law Phyllis's birthday. We were there for most of the day. It was really nice to see my brothers and sister in laws. My oldest brother was sick with a cold so they weren't there. For supper we all went to the Savoy restaurant. Lots of good food. My brother Hank informed us that they have booked an 18 day Panama cruise in the beginning of May. Sounds good to me. Today George, Barb and I drove into Vancouver for Barb's appt. with Dr. Legere. It was nice to have good driving conditions again. Well our beautiful snow is becoming our slush. Our Church has purchased acreage in Matsqui Village. It is actually a nut farm. On Sunday afternoon the men of the Church are going to pray around the property and have a barbecue. I'm a little puzzled as to why the women are not being invloved in this. I've always thought of women to be great prayer warriors. Actually I am not that excited about wandering around on the soggy property and eating barbecued meat in the drizzly rain. Tonight for dessert I made rice pudding. It sure tasted good on this grey looking day. Now that my tummy is full I think I shall indulge in a nice warm bubble bath. I have three days off in a row and plan to do as little as possible. Maybe tomorrow I will take my gift certificates to the shopping mall and treat myself.Keep looking up. You never know when God will surprise you with sunshine.

Walmart

Well I ventured out to Walmart with Barb last night. I hadn't been there since the end of November They had all these chocolates on the shelves and they looked like the Christmas chocolates. They had signs up everywhere saying "these are not on sale". What's with that? I figure they are trying to sell them for valentines but we all know those are the leftover Christmas chocolates. After we were finished shopping for our cold remedies we went into McDonalds for a treat. Barb had a hot fudge sundae and I had a medium hot chocolate and small fries. I asked the girl at the counter where they get their fries. She said she didn't know. Then I asked the guy behind her and he just smiled. I asked if they were McCains. He said they came from Australia. Yeh whatever! I told him about our experiment at home with the fries. We took two deep fried fries and two raw fries and set them aside for 3 weeks. Strange they kept their original colour, no mold, nothing. I asked him what he thought about that. He said it's probably the 20 chemicals in them and laughed. All I know is they really tasted good. We weren't even out of there yet and they removed all the chairs. I asked them if they were already going to wash the floor and he said yes. I think personally he was glad when this very nosy older woman left. I plan to get to the bottom of this even if I have to wait for the delivery truck to come to McDonalds in Clearbrook. After all I can walk there. You probably think I have nothing better to do. Oh I have but I'm on a mission.LOL. Well I better go and think of what I'm making for lunch. George's nephew Peter is coming with his new girl friend who he informed me is Chinese. They are bringing his two kids and her son and then they are all going to fun castle. Since it's my day off maybe we can go too. Have a great day.
