About the babies

I was waiting for Barb to update her blog and show you pictures. Unfortunately Barb has not been feeling good and really down in the dumps. Last night Barb and I went to the hospital to see Andrea and the Babies. Barb took a picture of Andrea who was looking amazingly good after having had twins in the morning. She also took a picture of Sophia Grace and Ethan Bryan. they were so small and so beautiful. They were not due unitl Oct.21. They are doing very well for their little size. Ethan weighted 4 pounds and 5 oz. and Sophia weighted 4 pounds and 2 oz. She had a c- section and a spinal.Barb will post pictures when she feels better. Yesterday afternoon my brother Hank and his wife came for a visit and this morning our friend Linda (affectionaely known as Auntie Linda) came by. this afternoon Barb's friend Mary W. from surrey came with her daughter Kristina. Today the doctor said that Barb doesn't have to go for any more blood work this week and only once next week because it all seems normal. Today I went to bring a gift to my friend's daughter who is a single mom. She has a cute little boy . She is a real good mom. I forgot to mention that the twins will stay in the hospital until their due date. I took advantage of the sunny day to wash my bathroom curtians and dry them outside in the fresh air. It's time to go hang up my curtains. Enjoy the day.

busy week

It's been a busy week with Barb having her surgery and all. I'm so thankful for all the many prayers that have gone up on Barb's behalf. The Lord is good. I'm glad Barb is home where she can get lots of rest. Friends and relatives have been dropping in for a visit and bringing flowers and cards. Yesterday George and I took Barb to the lab for her blood work. She is quite tired after that. This morning I had an appt. at the hospital. I had an echo cardiogram. I'm praying it will all be good news. Before I even got to the car my neighbour Kevin came over and asked to use the phone. He had locked himself out of his house and couldn't drive his truck to work. It turned out he also couldn't see the fine print in the telephone book so we finally got ahold of his son who came and brought him the spare house key. I was almost late for my appt. It was a little cooler today so I cooked chicken soup and made biscuits for supper. My brother Pete and his wife Helen came to visit Barb after lunch. After supper my friend Mary and I had dessert at ABC restuarant. She treated me for driving her to the airport early one morning a couple of weeks ago. Thank you Mary. Barb's friend Sandy picked her up after supper and took her out for a gilato dessert.(Probably spelled wrong). Barb seems to be doing good for someone who just had surgery. I think maybe I will have to borrow her special prayer shawl which she took with her to the hospital. Anyways I better get ready for bed because who knows what surprises God will bring my way tomorrow. God bless you all.

An eventful day

We were all up before seven o'clock today except for the dog. Barb had her shower and George and I ate breakfast. The dog went for a walk and then it was time to head out to the hosiptal. After signing in Barb had to gown up and sit with her long green operating stockings and gown and blue slippers with her IV pole in the waiting room until ten o'clock. Her surgery was supposed to be at nine but it got changed. George took a picture of Barb which you will see much later. The surgery was until 11:30 when Dr. Ahum came out and said all was well. we went home for lunch and I did some laundry and phoning and back we went at 1:30pm. She was still sleeping. I met a lot of interesting people today in the waiting rooms. I was amazed at all the activity that goes on in those hallways. Barb woke up at two o'clock but fell asleep again almost immediately. I went back after supper and she looked liked she was in a lot of pain. Her pain monitor ran out of batteries so she was not too pleased for awhile. She has a room with 3 other very chatty ladies who have a lot of chatty friends. Barb tried to put in her contact lenses but blood pressure wrist band fell off and a loud noise went off so that was cancelled until tomorrow. She managed to get her navel ring back in. Then Dr. Gill came on behalf of Dr. Ahman and said the surgery went well and ordered blood thinners. Then I gave her a nice exotic coconut massage on her legs and feet. We are pictures for later. She says tomorrow she is ready for company. She is in room 204 second floor east wing.I am now ready for a long bubble bath. George has gone to his Thursday men's meeting so it's nice and quiet here tonight. Blessings to you all.

Where has the summer gone

It seems like summer just began and as you may have noticed it is starting to get that autumn feeling in the air. It seems life is just racing by. It's been almost a week since Sonya and the girls went back home. It was such a nice time as always. Never quite long enough. This week I've been busy working and counting down the days to Barb's surgery. The counting is over. Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock we will be off to the hosiptal for her nine o'clock surgery. I have a lot of mixed feelings. I know it has to be done and a lot of people are praying and there is much power in prayer. Today Barb and I went to the senior center for chicken soup. We met with my brother Pete and his wife Helen. It was so nice to visit. My cousin John was there as well. He's still looking for a wife. Good luck with that one buddy. It was nice to see my nephew Robert twice this last week. Ron and Rob are selling their house in Richmond. Please pray that Rob can find a really good job closer out this way as he is tired of Richmond. It turned out to be a nice sunny evening. I think Sonya and Gary come home from their camping trip today. I miss them already. So I wish everyone a good week. Take time to laugh- it is the music of the soul.

handy dandy BBQ

I've just finished doing two night shifts in a row and pretty tired. Today was my first official vacation day. Islept until 1:45pm. Threw in a load of laundry. I went for a hair cut. Barb coloured it for me last nite. Came home and got ready for my annual MCC new and improved BBQ. The food was very good. We had barbecued farmer sausage, hamburgers and hot dogs. Potatoe salad and all kinds of raw veggies and potato chips. Fudgicles for dessert. Maybe Barb will have pictures. There were a great deal of handicapped people there. Sonya, you would have felt right at home. We had a great time. Looking forwaard to tomorrow whenSonya, Cam and Paige come. Have to go to bed now. It might be the only good sleep I will get for awhile. Drive safely Sonya. Take care.

The things that happen at night

The last few days I've been watching the guys across the street reroof the school. What a joke. Six grown men spending most of their time just standing and smoking. They roofed during the rain and when the sun came out they went home. Go figure. Last nite George, Barb and I went to Mission Heritage Park to listen to music in the park. It was western.
There were quite a few clients there including Carl and Debbie from my group home. it was good. I had a good nite shift. Carl and Clyde are going to the airport to watch airplanes today. When Igot home George informed me to be nice to Barb because she was in a cranky mood in the middle of the night. Knowing my neighborhood, I was not surprised to hear there was a cop car at our corner in the middle of the night. Acutally at 2:am. His flashing light kept going around and around shining into our bedroom windows. Barb finally got upset and went down in her pyjamas and told the cop to move his car.LOL. He told her no because they were looking for someone. There was another cop at the corner of Meadows and Debreen doing the same thing. He told her to put a curtain over her window.LOL So I'm going to bed and hopefully when she gets up she will be okay. Of course I can laugh because I wasn't here. I would probaly have been just as annoyed. It's raining so I will get under my quilt and listen to the patter of rain on the roof. Enjoy your day.

pleasant summer

It's been a whole month since I've written anything so I will try to give you a brief summary. My sister-in-law Gretchen has been over on two different occasions from Richmond. One time she brought our nephew Larry and his sons and the next time she brought our nephew Peter and his two children. It was really nice to visit with them because we see them so seldom. Two weeks ago we had our friends over for a summer barbecue. We invited twelve of them and had a great time. Tonight we are going over to our friends , Barb and Frank for a barbecue and I was asked to bring dessert. I made an apple and an apricot platz. Last nite Barb and I went to visit our niece Marilyn and her husband Gene and we went to the fireworks. They were spectacluar. Wealso saw our great nephew Tim and his friend Hue. Tim has been living in Vietnam for the past few years and just recently returned. I've have gone for coffee with my friends. Saturday George and I went to an African wedding. It was really so much fun. I used to work with the groom. His mother and sisters acame from Kenya for the wedding. The bride was also African. The food was allAfrican as well. What a great experience. I've also spent a lot of time at work. I'm looking forward to seeing Sonya and the girls on the week end. The week after that Barb is having her surgery . Your prayers are greatly appreciated. It's another really hot day, but I'm not complaining. I really enjoy the heat. I'm thankful that I can use my thumb inspite of the fact that it has a hair line fracture and won't be completely healed for another 3 weeks. Enjoy your day.
