my own little world

Hi again. I'm back. I hope nobody is too squeamish. This is a picture of Barb's bag of blood. Tuesday afternoon I drove Barb to the hospital for her to have her phlebotomy. For thosewho are not familiar with this procedure, a pint of blood is taken from Barb. This takes about 45 min to an hour. I just sit in the waiting room and read outdated magazines. they saidokayand put it in a big brown paper bag and off we went. Then we drove to Jean Hood's place(Barb's former landlady). We picked up their housekey so Barb can go and take care of Granny on Thursday afternoon. We went to buy fruit and salad fixings for Barb's diet . When we came home we showed the blood to George and he was quite facinated. We had barbecued hamburgers(only one each on whole wheat buns and a tossed salad. No dessert. After supper George mixed the blood with water and watered our flowers with some of it. I hope this will help the marigold to do better. They are almost dead. Barb saved a bit of the blood. I don't know for what. Today I walked to Clearbrook across the school yard and wished I would have had a camera. There was one very elderly Indo Canadian woman sitting on the swing in the playground swinging. She was in a world of her own, her ancient overweight body gently swaying in the breeze. Across the street the children were having a special treat. A woman arrived with a shopping car holding four very large watermelons. Another woman helped her push the cart up the handicap ramp and into the school. I was once again very tempted to go across the street and suggest they have rollkuchen with that. It's been nice and hot the last few days. Tomorrow my sister in law Gretchen is coming out from Richmond with her sister and brother and we are all going out for supper. I'm looking forward to their visit. Well I better go as I have to get ready to go to work on my night shift. Yeh, my clients will be waiting for me and I don't want to disappoint them. Have a great day tomorrow.

medical isssues

Last week I went for blood work and an ekg because I was having pain in my back. The doctor's office called and told me to come in yesterday. The doctor said my ekg showed heart fiblirations. The doctor wasn't so sure. He says sometimes they don't read them correctly, so this moning I had to go and get fitted with a holter. You have to wear it for 24 hours. It has 4 wires hooked up to your chest and a little recording device around your waist. Then I have a diary which I record all kinds of activities during that period of time. So I'm thinking today should be interesting. Poor George, having to deal with Barb and my medical issues. Well, I better go write in my diary that I spent 15 minutes sitting at the computer.

I haven't written for awhile so I will update you. A week ago thursday, we travelled to Kamloops to celebrate Paige's 11th birthday. Most people can make it to Kamloops in 3 hours, but not us. We make pit stops along the way. We managed to make it all the way to the toll booth. There we stopped to use the bathroom facilities. That includes the dog. Then we manage to make it to Merritt where we stop at McDonalds, except Barb runs over to Tim Hortons. Yes we use the washroom again. The dog needs to get out again too. Barb comes back with coffee and a donut. So I need to walk over to Tim Horton's to get two donuts. Now we are set. We get to Tim Hortons in Kamloops where we meet Sonya for another cup of coffee and another donut. We actually make all the way to Sonya's house. there we check out Sonya's cupboards and fridge for food and drink. Later the girls come home, Paige opens her gifts and off we go to Tony Romas. We invited Gary's parents as well. When we get there , we can't all sit at one table so Sonya and Barb inform us that they are sitting with Cam and Paige and us older folk can sit across from them. Everytime we look over they are laughing hysterically. I don't know whether it is us or what is so funny. But we all had fun. Poor Gary was at work so we ordered a meal to take home for him. The next day George, Barb and I went with George sister and her husband to Vernon two times in one day to eat. It is true, those people are retired and love to drive a lot, especially in our car.lol They eat a lot too. For lunch our brother-in-law ate 14 good size perogies with cream and a piece of coconut cream pie. For supper he ate 2 peices of fish and chips with french friesand coleslaw. On Saturday we had a wiener roast in the back of Sonya and Gary's place. It was so fun roasting wieners and marshmallow over a fire. Sunday we went to Church and heard the new Pastor speak or should I say "the man". He seemed real nice. this week I have worked a lot or should I say. I've been at my job at lot.lolTuesday evening my co-worker and I invited two of our friends over to visit our clients. Alice, Doreen and Yvonne really enjoyed themselves.Today I worked with my friend Mary. We always have a good time. Mary made a lemon jelly roll for our snacktime. It was delicious. Imade 5 dozen ginger cookies. They were sooo good.If my clients could speak they would confirm that. There was a lot of noisy sounds as they filled their tummies. Also the odd loud burp. I took one of the ladies out today and stopped to pick up something at home. Someone had left Roxies dried dog food on the table and we nearly had a problem. Good thing my hands worked faster than hers. The food only touched her lips. No harm done. I gave her a couple of cookies and she was very grateful. Time to have a hair wash and bath. I want to feel and look good when I go to Church tomorrow. I hope everyone enjoys Father's day tomorrow. We are having a steak barbecue for George. God bless.

Happy Penetcost

A special happy Penetcost to you all. We had a such a wonderful service today. It was sucha great message followed by ministry. When I got home I realized my foot wasn't sore anymore. I had a very sore foot since Monday. I couldn't walk on my heel without pain. I had taken a client to the doctor on Monday afternoon, and when I came back later in the evening my foot was so sore I couldn't keep on my shoes. I took tylenol #3 for 3 days waiting to go for therapy. Even after therapy, it wasn't quite better. I was supposed to go again on Wednesday. But it's perfectly normal now. PTL. For lunch George, Barb and I went to Ricky's where we met Hank and Phyllis(my brother). Yesterday at work we had invited another group home for lunch from Fort Langley. Myself and another staff made lunch for 16 people. What fun and what utter chaos.LOL. Sonya, Richard still has a sore finger.LOL. We barbecued 2 dozen wieners, potato salad, green salad. For dessert we had fresh strawberries. donuts and caramel tarts. There was nothing left over and they all went home happy. It's raining out so I think I will curl up with a book and relax. Tomorrow it's back to work. Nice thing is I only work tomorrow and Tuesday and then I'm off until the following Tuesday. Looking forward to going to Kamloops this week.I hope you all have a great week.

feeling refreshed

I'm finally starting to feel like myself again after being under the weather for the last few weeks. It's raining out but the air is nice and fresh. It's been a good week so far. I found out Ipassed the annual med test at work. Good news. Unfortunately a few of my close friends at work were not quite so fortunate and have to repeat it. yesterday we got our govenment bonus. Nice surprise. This afternoon I treated myself to an hour long thorough intense back massage courtesy of a substantial mother's day gift certificate from George, Barb and Sonya and Gary. it was sooorelaxing, listening to soft music and having different oils, scrubs and lotions rubbed into my back and neck. Lovely hot towels and even a scalp massage. My skin was literally glowing. I'm happy to say there is still money left over and I will be returning for anotherrelaxing treatment of one kind or another. The other good thing is that today was my day off. I wish you all a good week end .
