Retired life

It's been 3 months since I'm retired. So far I haven't missed going to work at all. I've been busy most of the time. the first month was spent having cofees, and lunches with friends celebrating my birthday and retirement. June was basically taken up with Barb and Pete's wedding reception preparations. The beginning of July was the reception and after that it's been having friends over and going out with family and friends. Last weekend Sonya and Gary and the girls were down. We went to the ocean at Centennial Beach which was so fun. It is not as busy as white rock and lots of sand. i brought home lots of sand dollars which George is going to make into a windchime for me. Sunday I went with the gang to Agrifair. Hot and fun. Nice running into relatives and friends. We met Susand, Mark, Andrea and kids and also our friends Frank and Barb. this week George has picked apples of our tree twice and got them ready for the freezer. I froze some blueberries given to me by Pete and Barb. thanks guys. Tomorrow Barb and I are going to a memorial service for one of Barb's former clients. George and I are starting to plan our road trip across the praires in about 4 weeks. We plan to go all the way to Winnipeg stopping along the way. We have no idea how short or long this will be. Nice not to be on a schedule.I went for a much needed hair trim this morning. i'm sitting here with the blinds open listening to the jets getting ready for tomorrow's airshow. Well I guesss I'll go and see what Dr. Phil has to say today. A good week to all who read this blog.

Happy Father's Day

Today I would like to salute all the fathers. In particular I just want to say that I had a good dad when I was growing up. He passed away when I was thirty-three. My grandfathers both passed away before I was born.I am blessed with a Godly husband who has always tried to set a Godly example for our two beautiful daughters. I am blessed with a wonderful Godly son-in-law who is also setting a Godly example for his daughters. I'm so blessed to have a Heavenly Father who gives me such unconditional love. So in conclusion I just want to say if your earthly father is still alive please take a moment and let him know how much he means to you. I wish you all a good week. May it be filled with lots of interesting moments.

What a great Sunday

I've worked a lot this week ands was very tired. But today is Sunday. A day of rest. This morning George and I went to Church. It was good as always. We are truly blessed to have such good pastors. The worship was so meaningful. After lunch George and I and Barb went to McDonald's for lunch where we ran into Frank and Barb Wright. They were there with another couple from Church. This morning our pastor announced that there was a community prayer meeting at the school administration building to pray for our schools and children and for the board etc. So George and I went. It was really meaningful. It was lead by two school board trustees. Then we finished by doing a prayer walk around the building.. Frank and Barb were there too. So we invited them home for supper. They had their dog Cookie with them. We had so much fun. In the middle of our meal, Barb got up to use the washroom. All of a sudden the squirrel alarm went off inside the house letting us know that a squirrel had been caught.Barb jumped off the toilet and came out and asked if the alarm meant if there was a time limit for using the washroom. Needless to say we all left the table and ran to look out the window to see the squirrel in it's cage. Frank just kept eating his soup.LOL. Then George, Frank and our Barb got in the car and took the squirrel away. Barb and I sat at the kitchen visiting until they came back and we carried on with our dessert. This was followed by interesting dance revolution. Frank and Barb left to go to Brian Derksen's house and George and I drove to Ellwood park and walked the trail. What a beautiful sunny day. Today I feel blessed. I wish everyone a great week.

Little bits of updates

It's a great Sunday. The sun is shining but the air is cool. This morning we went to Church. It was a great service as always. Visited a bit with our friends Speed and Linda. Danielle and Curtis have now moved back to her house in Victoria. Lewis, Paul's youngest son had his baby dedication last Sunday. Elias, Danielle' youngest son is having a birthday this week. Linda's brother Art(Art and Helen) Dick is still taking chemo and radiation for his bowel cancer and he has been diagnosed with non lymphatic hodgkins disease. Apparently the doctor told him the tumor in his stomach is inoperable and he has at the very most a year to live.Last nite around ten o'clock in the evening my brother Ernie phoned to say that it had been Teresa's wedding that afternoon. Apparently it was at the Alliance Church in Chilliwack. He is bringing pictures to my birthday party in May.It was a good size wedding. It started at 2:00p[m. then there was an hour in between and then they ate at the Church and he said they just got home at ten. Apparently they are going on a honeymoon in a little while. We had a great time at Sonya and Gary's house. I even won one game of Settlers. We had a good visit with George's sister and brother in law in Vernon. Unfortunately I had to come home and go to work. It turns out I missed the spring cleaning day and no residential staff turned up, probably because it was voluntary. So a whole bunch of the cleaning didn't get done and she made a long list and assigned it to all of us what and when we can do it. Apparently I'm supposed to do all of my work between 11-12pm on my night shifts for the next 3 shifts. I phoned my union about it and it turns out that on a sleepover you are not to do any work until you get up in the morning. that's why you get paid less for it. The manager has been making us work every night shift for an hour for the last 4 years which is against the union contract. The big wig from the head office has phoned her and told her to stop immediately or it's going to grievance. It means now when I go to work it's slightly stressful but justice must prevail. I just took Roxy for a nice walk. My tulips look so pretty and my rhubarb is so healthy looking. Well I better go. Have a great week everybody. God bless. Marge

Praise the Lord for sunshine

Did you all notice the sun today? It was interesting to see people coming to Church with sun glasses. After Church we went to Mcdonald's for lunch and had a deli sandwich meal. We went home and changed out of our Sunday clothes and away we went. George, Roxy, our dog and myself took a leisurely ride along North Bluff road to White Rock. There were so many beautiful trees with pink and white blossoms and very wooly sheep in the pastures. White rock was extremely busy. It felt like the first day of summer. The sun was shining and the tide was out and many people were basking in the sun eating fish and chips and ice cream. I have to admit that George and I had our waffle cones as well. George had a double chocolate and I had my favorite maple walnut. We walked with the dog to the pier and then I sat down with the dog on a bench and a very official aged man came and told me dogs were not allowed at the beach. I told him that the dog was on my lap. He informed me that I was not even allowed to carry my dog. He informed me that I would have to take the dog up to the main road, Marine drive and walk on the sidewalk all the way back to our car which was about half an hour walk.We did walk a ways down and noticed that he was heading back to the pier so we went back to our regular walk. George said he would never be able to make it from one end to the other because he looked so old.Of course I went to the water. It was actually not that cold.. The air was so fresh. I really had to pull myself away from that beautiful ocean. The good thing is it's not too far away. In my mind I had a mini vacation.YAY! We had a another leisurely drive home. The good news is that the sun is still shining here in Abbotsford. I say thank you Lord! May you all have a wonderful week full of pleasant surprises.

Trying out my new account

Well here I am. I haven't been able to figure out this new account until recently with Barb's help. So here I am. Nothing too exciting has been happening. The day to day routine of going to work etc. The weekend was great. On Saturday it poured rain and Dad decided to make supper. We had baked salmon with a real nice homemade sauce basted over it. He made roasted potatoes and we had garlic bread. It was delicious. Sunday after early service we went out for a late brunch with our friends, Frank and Barb and Speed and Linda. It was so much fun. In the afternoon I went to work and worked with my friend Mary who just came back from 3 weeks vacation. We had a great time catching up. Today it is pouring rain again. I went to renew Roxy's pills and bought new sneakers for work. I think next week I will do my Easter baking. I've got Sat., Sun and Easter Monday off so far. I still need someone to take my Good Friday. Today is my day off. Yahoo. Well I guess I'll throw in a load of laundry and maybe settle in with a good book. I hope everyone who has children home for spring break is having a good time. Till next time take care.
